There are many ways of using blogs to communicate your thoughts and feelings with an audience. During my time on the PGCE I have used blogging as a tool to communicate my reflective journals, reflecting on my classroom practice and university taught course. I describe how literature impacts on my opinions and how I am now meeting the teaching standards in the classroom.
Using blogging in the classroom
Blogging can be used by primary school children in many different ways. For example during Guided Reading sessions at school. My idea would be to split the class into 3 groups; one doing guided reading with the teacher; one participating in free reading and one contributing to a class blog. However this does rely on children having access to laptops and the wireless network within the school. Children could be given a follow up question from the previous day's guided reading and discuss as a group their thoughts and feelings before contributing to the class blog. This can be extended to home use with the teacher providing 'food for thought' for the children to go home and discuss questions with each other outside of school.
