During GPP (Guided Professional Placement) I was able to make good use of IWB (Interactive Whiteboard) software ActivInspire. I used this on a daily basis, to practice handwriting on the board, using videos, maths diagrams etc.
I used it to display learning objectives and success criteria, otherwise known as sid's steps to success displayed below with a picture of sid the snake.
I used it to display learning objectives and success criteria, otherwise known as sid's steps to success displayed below with a picture of sid the snake.
It was particularly useful for modelling how students should set out work in their books and to highlight information on a text to show a clear picture of what was being asked.
In Maths I used the IWB to show children visually how to work out fractions of numbers.
Evaluation:
At the beginning of GPP I was extremely anxious about using IWB software as I had only a little experience of this at University. I quickly became very familiar with the software, using it on a daily basis and 'playing around' with this software at lunch times and after school. I learnt to display learning objectives, success criteria and practice my handwriting and modelling how children should set their work out on 'squared paper' on the board. The children would also use the IWB with me, especially in literacy when rearranging letters to make words that cannot be phonetically decoded. I thoroughly enjoyed using the IWB software on GPP, and look forward to learning more about the software throughout my career as a teacher.
